Conservation Creates Opportunity

Recent changes to New York's deer management regulations create new opportunities for responsible harvest. Into the Wild is helping turn that opportunity into local impact by connecting hunters, processors, and community partners to help feed families across our region.

  • Responsible Harvest

Beginning September 13th, 2026, hunters can donate eligible, properly tagged deer directly to participating processors.

  • Processing

Donated deer are brought to participating butchers — Deerserto's Butcher in Orange County and Spring Brook Farm in Sullivan County — where they are professionally processed into venison.

  • Distribution & Coordination

Processed venison is coordinated through A Single Bite, the program's food distribution hub, which utilizes 400–500 pounds of ground meat each week through its community meal programs.

  • Community Impact

Locally sourced venison reaches families throughout the region who need it most, turning responsible harvest into meaningful nourishment close to home.

Participating Processors

Deerserto's Butcher (Orange County)
170 Gillen Road, Middletown, NY 10940

Spring Brook Farm (Sullivan County)
219 Rockland Road, Roscoe, NY 12776

Additional local partners interested in participating are encouraged to contact Into the Wild to become part of the network.

Conservation That Feeds the Community

Recent changes to New York's deer management regulations have created additional opportunities for responsible antlerless harvest in areas where deer populations need greater management. Into the Wild sees those changes as an opportunity to do more.

A donated deer can provide approximately 40 pounds of processed venison, creating an estimated 150 servings of high-quality protein.

Together, the program creates a full-circle conservation story:

Responsible Harvest → Wildlife Management → Local Processing → Local Food → Community Impact

Drop a Deer. Get a Beer.

To kick off the season, Into the Wild will host a special donation event at All Things Accuracy in Liberty:

October 10–11

During these designated collection days, hunters can bring eligible donated deer directly to ATA, where Into the Wild will coordinate transportation to participating processors.

As a thank-you for giving back, donors will receive a community-supported appreciation package (while supplies last), including:

  • 2026 Into the Wild T-Shirt
  • 4-Pack from Roscoe Mountain Club (Beer or Root Beer)
  • Buy One, Get One Voucher from Roscoe Beer Company
  • $50 Off a Purchase at Fur, Fin & Feather
  • 10% Off a Purchase at All Things Accuracy

Our Food Distribution Partner

A Single Bite serves as the program's food distribution hub, ensuring donated venison reaches families who need it most. Currently utilizing approximately 400–500 pounds of ground meat each week through its community meal programs, A Single Bite is committed to keeping locally sourced food local.
