HOW TO DONATE
Anyone with a legally harvested, properly tagged buck or doe that meets New York State regulations and participating processor requirements.

There is no cost to the hunter to donate. Participating processors and community partners help make the program possible.

Yes. All deer must be properly tagged and reported in accordance with New York State regulations before donation.
New York's updated deer management regulations create additional opportunities for responsible harvest. Into the Wild connects that opportunity with local food insecurity by helping donated venison reach families throughout our community.
Your deer is processed by a participating local butcher before being picked up by A Single Bite for community meal distribution.
Hunters already play an important role in wildlife management. This program ensures an eligible harvest can also provide meaningful community impact by helping feed local families.

Absolutely. We're actively looking for additional processors, community organizations, businesses and conservation groups to help expand the program throughout the region.
A New York venison donation program
Feeding NY works with hunters and participating processors to turn legally harvested deer into venison for New Yorkers in need.
Donate a whole deer or a portion through a participating processor. Call the processor first to confirm it can accept your deer.
Handle the carcass with food safety in mind. At drop-off, complete the simple donation form and indicate whether lead or non-lead ammunition was used.
Participating processors help process donated venison and coordinate with food banks so it can reach New Yorkers in need.

Food Distribution Partner
A Single Bite is one of the program's food distribution hubs, ensuring donated venison reaches families who need it most. Currently utilizing approximately 400–500 pounds of ground meat each week through its community meal programs, A Single Bite is committed to keeping locally sourced food local.

The Sullivan County Federation for the Homeless is one of the program’s food distribution hubs, ensuring donated venison reaches local individuals and families who need it most. Through its community food programs, the Federation will distribute locally harvested and processed venison throughout Sullivan County—helping keep local food in our local community.
